Mold – what is it?

Mold is fungi. And if you are wondering, fungi is plural for fungus. It is just a group of microscopic organisms.
They exist everywhere and we dread seeing them. But if you remembered from school days, our teachers told us that micro-organisms actually make this world a better place : they breakdown garbage to recycle the nutrients. Hence, we need mold in view of the amount of garbage we churn out everyday.
How they grow? Mold, like any living organisms, needs water, air and food to spread. In the outdoors mold can be found on damp rotting leaves, heaps of rubbish, grass, wood. Wherever conditions are suitable for mold development, we will find them there. It is a known fact that molds also destroy plants by growing on them.
